Yesterday was my wife's birthday. I'm not allowed to tell you how old she is. Sorry. I tried to get her a great gift, but it was delayed. I tried to get some beautiful flowers but the local florist was completely out of pink flowers. She really loves pink flowers and I had planned to get her a dozen roses, but none were available. How about something else pink? Nope. Nothing. So I went to get her a card. Wow! I hit a home run there! (At least according to her.) We went to dinner and joined our daughter for InterVarsity at college. We stopped by a bakery and got some wonderful goodies (she didn't want a cake) and got home late.
And why is this important? Chances are the specifics aren't important to you at all. But the specifics aren't the point. The point is, I tried to bless her on a special day. And then I had a revelation: do I try to bless her EVERY day, or only on "special" days? WOW! That hit me!
So now, I'm going to try to be a blessing to her daily, not just on special occasions. You might try it too!
1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." At home, at work, wherever......encourage one another!
