No "I" in Team

We've all heard the statement: "There's no I in Team". Yep, it's true. Not a single "I" in the word "Team". But let's be honest, there's still quite a bit of "I" in all of us. But hey, the statement isn't about spelling, it's about teamwork. It's about working together. Here's just a couple of thoughts about that very subject:

Leonard Bernstein was once asked which instrument was the most difficult to play. His answer was, "Second fiddle. I can get plenty of first violinists, but to find someone who can play the second fiddle with enthusiasm—that's a problem. And if we have no second fiddle, we have no harmony."

It is better to have one person working with you than having three people working for you. —Dwight. D. Eisenhower

A group becomes a team when each member is sure enough of himself and his contribution to praise the skills of the others. —Norman G. Shiddle

No one can whistle a symphony, it takes an orchestra to play it. —Halford E. Luccock

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. (Philippians 2:3-4)

Wow! Even God has something to say about teamwork. Must be important, huh?

The Main Thing.......

I'm sure you've heard this before, but I heard it for the first time many years ago. It came from my good friend Ed Nelson, a great pastor, mentor and leader who invested heavily in my life. Here's what he said: The main thing is keep the main thing the main thing.

Simple? Yep. Difficult? Oh yeah!

That's why we're in the process of re-examining virtually everything we're doing at Osceola Assembly. We want to be the most effective church we can be and that can only happen with God's help and clear direction.

We're pulling together our leadership team for a time of prayer, brainstorming and planning. Thanks for your prayers!!!
